It's a weed... but pretty

As the old adage says, a flower in the wrong place but what is it?

Sweet violet I think. And edible too.

It annoys me no end when folk refer to good edible plants as weeds!
A prime example of this is "Round-up" weedkiller ads - they use the productive dandelion as an example of a weed!
Dandelion heads - a glorious wine
Dandelion leaves - great in salad
Dandelion roots - a good hot drink (nothing like "coffee" though)
Weed? - no!
Your picture certainly looks like a violet ... and the flowers of violet can produce an antiseptic eyewash and a vilet tea is good for chest problems as well as going in salads and making a decent liquer
Wheres the weed? ??

I don't use chemicals in the garden, but been busy with the hori-hori this morning!
