Iron Ore

Does anyone know where I can get some iron ore?

I want to have a go at a smelt.

There's tons of the stuff where my parents used to live in Northamptonshire, around Higham Ferrers (NN9). There was an iron ore mine there until about 100 years ago and there is plenty to be had in the fields around there.

You can buy powdered iron oxide (red or black) from many sources and it'll be a lot purer than processing it yourself -- fewer variables for your first smelt. What method/technique were you planning?
