ID wanted

I think that i know what fungi this is but it is the first time i have found what i believe to be wild edible fungi, could someone please ID this, it has a very rubbery/ jelly like structure/texture.

It looks like Auricularia auricula-judae (Jelly Ear, Jew's Ear and various other names) http://www.rogersmushrooms.com/gallery/DisplayBlock~bid~5580.asp

Was it growing on elder? If you positively identify it as that then it is indeed edible and they have an interesting texture.

Like your fungi, you can often find some that do look remarkably like an ear, even the inside and even the texture is similar. Round here you can often quite large clumps of them.
