I am in the process of making a bushy knife with a Camel bone handle.

My question is..... how do i finish and seal the bone so it does not take on to much dirt and grime?

Thanks for your help

I soak antler in Danish oil for a week or so when finished for a sealing treatment, it still retains he feel of the antler after a good rub too not all smooth and plasticy if that makes sense?

Looks like oil it is then! I only have baby oil, or linseed oil, I suppose I need to go buy some Danish oil

Scandinaviens will tell you not to put oil on antler as it turns yellow

I would say just polish the camel bone as it wont saok in any oil and doesnt need to.

Ive been told to finish bone and antler with vaseline oil, this should not make the bone go yellow. Ive had reinder antler go very yellow on me when using oil. You can see a picture here www.yggdrasilknives.wordpress.com under my bushcraft knife post. The two small disk are reindeer antler, gone yellow, the moose didnt
