About 7 years ago I bought a digging hoe in France for around 20p at a sale. I dont garden though. So I thought aha that pick-hoe might just make a decent adze blade. So I cut it off its pick axe handle sized socket and started to fit it to a suitable elbow crook today
The blade has a curved top surface so I thought I'd carve the crook to that sam profile, so its less likely to twist when being used
I put the blade in its location and the dirt on it marks the high spots, which I gradually shave away
Getting there, but still some work to do. I'll rough carve it, let it dry, then maybe do adjustments as it will change shape a little as it shrinks.
Also I will cut away either side of the blade to make more of a T shape, so there is remaining a strip in the middle which is the same width as the base of the crook (plus the 2 off cuts will make nice knife blade blanks)
Thanks for looking, cheers Jonathan
