Help needed - Sharpening Steel

The father in law is adamant he wants a 18 inch sharpening steel for Christmas!

I’m at a loss, have now convinced him that it has to be overall length and not just the steel (which would make it over half a metre long!!)

If anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds pretty huge!
The only ones I've seen that sort of size are army surplus; you could try them.

The £10 ceramic steel from IKEA is a superb tool, best kitchen knife steel I have used though not as long as you want.
