Held hostage by a Bear !!

Hitting the bear after the first contact with hammer a good idea, stopping hitting bear a bad idea. You fight a black bear, play dead with a grizzly.
More than likely he may have surprised the bear and or it felt itself trapped and in danger so it attacked.
I have bears living in my back yard under my apple tree, live and let live. They never come up, well only once, I seen come up and went outside and growled at it, chased it down the slope, never came up to the door again.
I can't kill a bear........
