Just before christmas was wandering around Tescos - found a 1 litre camping kettle in aluminium, with an insert for putting tea-leaves in - or possibly coarse-ground coffee. Just tried it out in the kitchen- don't tell the Mrs! - and it boiled 420 ml (2 cups?) of cold water on a minibull Bios stove in a staggering 4 minutes! True, the workmanship on it isn't to Rolls-Royce standars, and the alu is pretty thin, but it does the job and the handle stays upright away from the heat, and folds for packing.

Oh - did I mention the price? Pounds (sorry - using a USA keyboard and can't find the pound sign at moment!) 1.50!

These where originaly on the shelves at my local tesco for £10. I bought one when I saw them reduced to £5 thinking I'd got a bargain. Over the next few weeks I had to watch as they went down to 2.50, then 1.75 and now this.
I did get the last 2, 2 man dome tents for 75p each though, that reduced the hurt a bit.

PS Ive used the kettle in anger a few times now with good results, I'm rather pleased with it realy.

None in my local tesco unfortunately. Pity, I have been looking for a cheapie too. Ah well I have survived this long without one. ;)
