Long story short, I've been comissioned a 10 inch camp knife/machete, bowie style blade, 01tool, stacked handle bronze bolster really my kind of thing and made a few similar. One question for fellow makers and for people that use them, what kind of hardness is suitable? Do I differentially harden it? Go super hard? Reasonably soft? Problem is the lad doesn't know what he's after, hes used to using off the peg blades so I don't have the normal specific instruction.
