For Google Chrome users.
I'm not usually a fan of custom backgrounds, skins etc. However I have been enjoying this extension for Chrome.
Bing wallpaper for Google homepage
Which will place a background image on the google homepage taken from 'bing's' background of the day.
I have been using it for a week now and the photographs so far have been fabulous and quite a pleasant surprise when I boot up my machine to see what is happening in the world.
You can get a feel for the images that will be used by looking at this archive.
I have only just realised that the image will vary depending on the country you live in, whereas I (and much of the world) see a nice lavender field at dawn folks in the UK see some Manta rays and those in the USA get a building and their flag.
