I have a Tilly Lamp which has not been used for a couple of years and today I could not start it. When I lifted the top of the lamp and the top piece and looked at the top of a long pipe connected to the base which I assumed bought the fuel up once it was running I think I could see a minute hole and I assumed probably wrongly that was where the fuel exited but whatever I did I could not find a wire thin enough to probe the minute hole.
I know that I ignite the lamp with the collar that clips round the central pipe and is soaked with mentholated spirit and lit which should eventually turn the paraffin into gas but I don't know what should happen next.
Could you please explain that process for me as I expect power failures shortly.
