I've doen the same thing when I was messing about with DIY stoves, to be honest the lid off a tin can works just as well.

Dont see the point of that, as the jets will bloom anyway after a while. I have heard that preheaters can be a good thing on Trangias but dont have any experience of that.

In over 3 years I've not used anything other than an open fire or my penny stove.

2 Kronenburg cans - body
Tin lid - primer
Aluminium aircraft repair tape - shield
Wire coathanger - stand
A penny - to block the fill holes

Just used my knife to score open the tins and a hammer and nail for the holes.

4 capfuls of meths is good for 20 mins or so.
