I’m curious if anyone knows of a decent forum for makers of ‘stuff’ as opposed to specific subject focussed?

I’m a tinkerer in all sorts and don’t really like to join lots of different places to chat about one of projects and the like.

As examples of ‘stuff’ that I have going on right now, I’m talking homemade board games, wind turbines, laser etching slate, electric boot and glove drier, whittling, automated solar hot tub heater, resin art, handmade paddle boards and paddles, kite making and kite photography.

As I say - a bit varied!

A makerspace would be great but there isn’t one near.

Have you tried looking for a Men’s Shed near you? They quite often have craft and workshop activities.

Assuming the location on your profile is correct, one does come up, the website is out of date as far as I can tell but the contact details might give you a lead.

Men in Sheds Aylesbury

A ‘Shed’ is a place where men, can come along and take part in craft based activities similar to those they would do at home or in their own garden shed but with the bonus of other like-minded men providing good company. It’s a social group where men can be productive, socialise and be part of their local community. Activities include woodwork, metal work, electronics, weaving, computing and digital photography.
The Shed facility provides a venue to share those life experiences in a more relaxed environment.

The Shed is open Monday, Wednesdays & Fridays from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

There's a website/forum makers thing that Jimmy Diresta was involved with Stew but I can't find the details of it at the moment.

I know he and a number of other YT makers came over last year to a big exhibition held at Birmingham that was organise by the site.

Thanks. I know of Mens in Sheds, though the Aylesbury branch is no longer called that (I’m assuming for equality reasons). Unfortunately the timings are geared towards the retired, which is why they were first set up, and I have a full work life. A good thought though!
