I guess it depends what you intend to do with it - I still have pictures over on geocities, and it seems ok linking from there into my forum posts ...
Do you want to use your own domain name, or are you happy with a username off the main host's URL - www.freehostingcompany.com/wolfbushcraft (as an example). Your registration company may give you free space to set up a redirect from if it's the former ...
I'm quite tempted by the look of http://system.freepgs.com... (as I need PHP). This isn't free as in 100% free, but free as in a few US dollars one-off payment free, which I'd be happy with, given their backends. Usual disclaimer - I have absolutely no connection with them at all, it's just one site I found this morning that looked useful, and I still might not use them (but they look ok so far).
There seem to be an almost overwhelming number of sites linking to free hosts, have a look from here and good luck !

Why not go for a cheap hosting solution? Fasthosts do a package thats's 6 quid for the domain name for two years, and 3 quid a month for hosting. I looked for a good free hosting solution for ages, but since switching I've not looked back. You get an awful lot for your money 
I've found that photobucket.com is pretty good, as is imageshack.us , but perhaps imageshack has a site for the UK as well.

I'm hosting my work site on Fasthosts - we've been with them for about 5 years now, and I have to say that their support staff are fantastic. (We do pay them a bit more for hosting tho - much better deal if you pay them annually too).
That's interesting - my only gripe has been the support. First time I phoned I was queued for an hour and a half, and the advisor said he'd solved the problem, but actually hadn't! Phoned again, queued about half an hour, got it resolved at last,but I wasn't impressedmonkey_pork said:

They don't give MySQL with the free account and I haven't tried Access data bases or, php, Pearl and asp but they would be perfect for posting pictures.
They offer FTP as well as browser based uploading so it's nice and flexible.
The best thing is they give you 2500MB of space!!! Yeah two and a half gig!
The only downside is you need to have a domain name, so you have to pay for that (about £6 for 2 years) and they do insist they hold the IPS tag but you can buy the domain name somewhere else (maybe cheaper) and transfer the domain to them very easily.
