Force patina attempt

So I tried to make a patina on my opinel, I put it in cloth wrapped with vinegar , I was checking every half hours so I noticed this rust and stopped the process because I was afraid to make it bigger as you see in the pictures , this is my first time should I continue of stop ?

I'd stop as it looks as though its already got a patina. Mine did it all on its own when left it in a sweaty pocket whilst doing DIY. went rusty in 2 hours and needed sanding off.

Ferric chloride works well for that can get it from maplin

So does a sachet of truckstop tomato ketchup, easy to apply too, just insert blade at the short end and wait. We made my son's Opinel No. 6 almost black in about 2 hours. As there's little free oxygen present there seems to be little rusting using this method.
