Has anyone used a stove from a fondue set as a burner? They seem like a pop can stove only stronger and with the material inside to keep the meths from sloshing around. They also are light and come with the ring on top to control the heat a bit.
Also, in the shops you can buy fondue fuel-am I wrong in thinking this is just plain old meths in a fancy bottle?

I have used them and they are ok(ish) they work but are not that efficient and for me heavy on fuel. but the do work.

I picked up a table top wok set from B&Ms a few years ago for 2quid. The burner in that works fine, it is the same as what you get in fondue sets. I have used a range of fuels. Lighter gel was about the best, but I used waste oil, meths and hexy blocks in it. The most use for it is during very wet conditions where wet wood can be put on top of the burner, without worrying about the fuel soaking away. I have replaced it now with sweet tin with waste oil and a wick now.
