In my garden I have a flowering quince, and every year it has a good crop of fruit, is the fruit edible?

Edible yes, palatable - maybe

There are at least three species of flowering quince, Chaenomeles cathayensis, Chaenomeles japonica, and Chaenomeles speciosa. Some have fruit that makes a nice jelly - others are less pleasant.

Pick your quince when it ripens, you'll see it start to yellow in late Autumn, and place it six or so at a time in small baskets
around the house - it's just the best smell ever, and it'll last 'till early winter. It really is worth trying, beautiful scent!

So even if the one you have is not a good culinary variety, there's always this................:)
