The weather forcast last night was for blue sky and sunshine, so packed haversack and made plans !
Early start, Porrage then took Mrs QDanT into town to the shoe mines/hand bag quarries :surrender:
Came back and it's getting darker and darker then windscreen wipers on full chat for a hail storm.
I'd wanted to try out a new fuel spotted in the twice a month solid fuel run to the coal yard in Settle N.Yorks

I descided to carry out the trial in the back garden as the hail had changed to a rain downpour but no wind,
so cut one in half giving x2 at 5" at 9oz each

I rolled some Birch bark into each and lit it at 13:30, like a fuze :( but it didn'l light them

by 13:40 it was burning well

Looks great!

You've certainly got the bear trained up nicely, opening the bar that early with a half-way decent Rioja is a skill beyond many less well educmecated :)

It's not how I recall Domestic Science lessons! That steak looks perfect.

As an aside the beer barrel table reminds me of two uses I've put them to over the years:

1. Cut square 12"x12" aperture some 6" from base and deploy as sleeping quarters in a large ferret pen. Circa 1974.
2. Cut 24"x18" aperture, mount light and small camera within and construct support structure with deflection baffle for air rifle target mounting. Suspend from suitable tree with backstop and run power and comms cables back to firing point monitor and switch. Circa 1995

As an aside the beer barrel table reminds me of two uses I've put them to over the years:

I've found x2 now one in a local river and one in the canal, being stainless steel it was worth the struggle to rescue them :fishing:
I cut the top out of one and use it as a 'mash tub' for brewing and one as a fireproof table

Forgot to add the pack of Hotties (x10 in the pack) are 10" long and 1 Lb-2 Oz each and 1 burnt at full air in the Firebox for 2 hours :campfire:
and cost just under £3:50 per pack at Settle Coal Co. Settle North Yorks'
