Surely you could use any sheet laid out on the grass providing that you pile enough earth on it to insulate. Cotton would probably not mind getting slightly warm unlike nylon?

Just a thought...

OK did a little digging around via google on this last night,it seems that its the same materials as a normal fire blanket fibreglass matting. The only problem is i've discovered there are two types one a once time use the other washable and reusable but can't find out if the materials are the same and its just one is thinner than the other are there any current firemen could help with info. If not much difference and you use the soil insulation the same a 1 metre x1 metre blanket starts at about £10
