After seeing the strop that woodsmoke made I decided to make my myself a field strop today from some leather that Shep kindly sent me.
Its made from 3mm veg tanned leather, dyed brown, its a top piece nice and smooth , perfect for a strop. Its about 9inches in length and 2 inches in width, I wanted something nice and simple as a field strop that I can keep in my pack.

I can just roll it up and keep it in a leather pouch, tried it out my Finn bear, worked a treat.

Good work fella.

I do want to add though that in my experience that 'slack' strop will invariably produce a slight convex edge which is great if you are stropping a convex blade. Having a scandi I use a boarded strop that I think reduces that convex effect on the edge.

I am as ever willing to be corrected by folks that have more experience.
