As I was looking through a number of books focussed on foraging/wild foods recently I wondered what peoples preferences were - and why?

Here's a couple of the obvious ones for starters:

Food or Free, Richard Mabey; Been around for ages in different printings (collins gem, full size etc). Some versions seem better than others for illustrations but all are a good resource

Cook on the wild side, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall. Perhaps a bit more 'cooky' than forager but it covers a lot and really advocates the merits of wild food foraging.

What's your favourite and why? Any you'd not bother with?

i use the above books too also have collins field guides and a few herb books with culinary and medicinal plants.

I like food for free i have fungi guides too but to be honest i havent collected any as i would not rely on my own interpretation of a book alone when it comes to fungi. I do plan to attend a fungi course some day
