No it's not self inflating - the Exped self inflaters are called SIM (can you guess what it stands for )

As with all Exped stuff these are great quality but I'd suggest this one would be more suited to summer use.

Yeah, definitely not one for winter. I use mine from April until about September. Never had any problems with it. Came with a free repair kit which I am yet to use.

Theres no insulation inside so easily fits into your pocket but the flip side is it is more for comfort than warmth.
