I am looking for a cordage that retains its elasticity and so keeps lashings tight long term. This is for a repair of my elder pan pipes as the lashings (cotton string) have worked loose. Any ideas?

Hmm,

can't think of anything very stretchy although buckskin has a certain give.

How about lashing with boiled rawhide or sinew and letting it shrink dry. makes a super tight lashing
