Does anyone know how to find out a girls ring size!!

Help needed!!!

My partner, who always claimed she never wanted to get married has been blatantly looking at rings on her laptop sat next to me on the sofa!! along with a few other comments I'm beginning to think she might have changed her mind!

We have an eight month old and I suppose it would be nice to have the traditional values for our kids to grow up with... vowed I wouldn't do it again but it kind of all feels right.

So how did you guys who have successfully gain her ring size and keep the surprise?

Might not be a rufty tufty enough thread for this site but desperate times and all that!!!

Thanks

Leo

I asked my Mrs on the spur of the moment and we chose the engagement ring together. There are pros and cons of having the ring with you when you ask, but I didn't find any cons to not having it when I asked.

Standard disclaimer: All women are different while all being exactly the same, so no matter which way you choose there will always have been an obvious better way.... i.e. her way (which you really should have thought of!)

Does she wear other rings that she keeps in her jewellery box?

If she does and one of them is her ring finger on her right hand use that as a guide to the right size.

Its a shame the word "size" doesn't appear in the list of thread titles - I was going to offer entirely different advice :D

We picked ours together and both enjoyed it, I have manage to buy several rings since after guessing size and never been wrong but that is more luck then anything!

From a female's point of view (congratulations by the way :D) slightly larger is better than tight. Many women find rings tight a few days every month and as we age the rings can feel tighter again. My wedding ring is a K but I need an L when my hands ache.
There's an online ring sizer here.

Take her finger to the jewlers, how you get it is down to your ingenuity.

A work collegue had the stones for the ring and gave those over with the proposal. the plan then was to arrange with the jeweller to make the ring to her specs after...

I made a ring for the wife, I found the easiest (though least romantic) way was to ask for a ring that fitted and make it based on that....
