Todays walk entertained me with an abundance of cowslips, a lovely early wild flower, there was quite a large swathe of them. Cowslips suffered a serious decline from the 60s to the 80s but seem to be making a comeback. It was once popular to pick cowslip flowers to make a traditional country wine. Also saw quite a lot of Green Alkanet, I believe the plant was/is used as a dye. Anyway the obligatory pics to torment you with their usual poor quality added as proof only (by the way there was plenty of bees on the flowers, god knows how the guys on here take pics of things like bees, I cant even take a decent pic of a plant)
Cowslips:- photos show only a small number of them, there was a large swathe of them, must have been about five times as many as photo shows. Cowslip wine was an old-fashioned traditional country wine.
Green Alkanet, I believe the pant was used as a dye (no doubt ''is'' used by some members)
