Coffee with egg shell

but it's something I read last night in this little Campfire companion, so I googled and found this

I have never tried it nor heard of it.
I`ve heard of fish skin used to "rinse" the coffee of the grounds but not tossing a whole egg in the coffee.

Me neither.........I do know of crushed egg shells being added to settle the grounds, but whole egg ? Strikes me as a waste and a, "What a Mess! "

However, have you tried it yet ?

I tried when working with some US air force personnel in Saudi Arabia, It seemed to make a rough coffee smoother as we tried it with and without the egg shell. At the time I thought it strange but not nasty, not the whole egg though, they also added a pinch of salt.

Never tried the egg shell trick but a pinch of salt added to the coffee after boiling will also cause the grounds to settle more quickly.

you first mix the egg with the Coffee, thus binding the two ( no grinds ) then add the shell too. Or just through a shell into your Cowboy coffee, it does smooth the flavor a bit.

Salt in coffee takes away some of the bitterness that is with some coffee

Do this all the time in work - no cafetiere, but demand decent coffee!
