Chicken of the woods

I found these while out for a walk yesterday, i didn't have my camera so i went back today.





I didn't pick them because i have never eaten wild fungi before.

I love Chicken of the Woods, it usually comes out in early fall here. One of the best dishes I have had is Chicken of the Woods Enchiladas, I also like curried Chicken of the Woods and Potato casserole.

Last time I went to my local woods there was a big bunch of COTW.

Popped up last night to see if there was any about (thought the recent rain may have spurred some on) and there was none to be seen. Bah

i posted a pic of one that i found a couple of weeks ago. Subsiquently eaten
Was really good, although had to slice it very thin. A stroganoff, a stew and just on toastnwith garlic. Yummy!
