Can I use teak oil on leather?

Hi

I have a plain untreated leather sheath and some teak oil (left over from redoing an air rifle stock). Can I use the teak oil on the sheath or would it damage / rot it? Oil off a blade seems ok on leather so I thought I might be able to use this oil on leather.
