Building a rowing boat

A friend wants this as a summer project.

Never done it before and only basic tools...but a big double garage.

I myself would be inclined to get hold of a good boat and do it up.

He want to make one.

Any suggestions for plans...or a kit maybe?

Selway Fisher plans might be a good place to start - geared up to amateur building in stitch a glue ply. AND - they're in Wiltshire (isn't that where you are?)

I build a canoe (not a Selway Fisher design) using ply and stitch and glue (HERE) and it wasn't too challenging - and it works a treat!

check out "No Idea's" old threads on here, he did a tutorial about building a row boat.

Got a mate who made a canoe using the stitch and glue method, wasn't rocket science but it was interesting.
Once you see that technique being used to make things it opens up a lot of possibilities.
