has anybody had any experience of using the lightweight Buffalo sleeping bag? I am thinking of changing my down bag/bivi bag and using the buffalo - it will be lighter - any thoughts?

I use a Buffalo 4s Inner and Outer, I have never needed more than the outer in the UK in 3 years of using it! (in all conditions) as said they are bulky. However they are bomb proof and dont seem to mind being washed regularly!

I have a bag similar to the buffalo. Mine is a Survival Aids fibre pile bag with Merklon outer. It has zip holes for your arms to poke out and is great for use in a hammock. I got mine before Survival Aids changed their name when aids became a bad word to use in advertising. Yes it's heavier and bulkier than down but it scrunches up fairly well with a compression sac and can take a lot of punishment.

i use the buffalo dp system and i got rid of a down bag for this when i had the money and have been very happy with it never had a cold night no matter what the weather
one point is get the thermal liner if you can i have got into mine soaking wet and after a very warm night woke up bone dry
bulky but well worth it as they seem to last longer than any other type of bag
you can wash them outdoors if needs be aswell as they dry quick

I have a 4S outer with thermaliner. Bulky, but an ace bag when you do not need to worry about space, and if things may get a little rough. I have down bags as well which are great when space is required and things are probably going to be dry.
I have used Buffalo for many years now both at work and play. I have sleeping bags that are eight years old and have been used 200 days per year min' by people who don't care. They get washed weekly, non-bio and at max only use half the soap thats recommended. Can be tumble dried or you can get in it wet and it will be dry in the morning.
The lightweight bags are good value, but you can feel restricted by their narrow cut.
4S outer with arm holes and double zippers are great if you need to move whilst resting, can be used whilst driving, you don't need to get out of the bag for a midnight pee.
What more can I say.
