I'm looking to replace the black plastic buckles on my army issue bergen (the originals are breaking and a bit naff).. What would you guy's recommend I replace them with? And where to get them? Is duraflex a good brand?

Both Brigade Quartermaster and US Cavalry carry fastex type buckles:

They're good on most military rucks so they should work well on a Bergen.

I replaced the buckles on my bergen with some cheap ones on ebay,http://cgi.ebay.fr/5-Black-Plastic-...Crafts_Sewing_Supplies_MJ&hash=item53e8030933 they 've been fine up to now............................................these should be ok too http://www.jackson-sports.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=1908 .
I did try to find the ITW Nexus buckles a while back but I couldn't find anywhere that sold them in small quantities.
I've heard of Duraflex but have no idea how good they are but whatever you do, avoid Web-Tex buckles
