just put it in a pot on a long boil gradually reducing the heat as the volume reduced, it's not as thick as golden syrup but it's rich enough to keep without spoiling. one book i've got suggests thickening the last bit in a bowl over boiling water to prevent burning, but i'm happy with the yield/thickness balance i've got.
