certainly looks like one to me.

Looks a bit past it though as the bottom and edge appear a bit deteriated.

Thanks for the quick reply. Forgot to mention it was found on a fallen silver birch.
Really looking for 'natural' things for firelighting from a fire rod....thanks again. Here is another of his relatives near by.
