Birch & Cherry spoon, main bowl is birch to which i added a segmented Cherry handle, the cherry went on the way it fitted best, ie gave the best join between the two surfaces, some are what could be called upside down compared to their immediate neighbours, which was fun when it came to carve the handle down as the grain was not consistent in any way, shape or form.

Ive run a bamboo bbq skewer up the middle of the lot for additional strength, the skewer is set into the spoon bowl section as a tenon, likewise with the end cap.

The handle has been left a little thick for strength, the whole thing was sanded to 600 grit, before a liberal coat of pure tung oil

Your work is always good, but that's rather smart :D
I bet it'd make a cracking salad server set

M

Next one i make will have a slightly thicker dowel running up the middle as this one, although glued and screwed as they say, has a tad too much flex in it, salad server set sounds good, might have to make a birch & cherry bowl to go with it.
