And Eric Methven posted a tutorial on making bark containers. I don't remember if he posted it here, but he did post it over on his Mountainman forum.

The Society of Primitive Technology has a number of articles on birch bark in their newsletter. And second book of collections of those articles has a chapter on Containers - including working with bark.

Hope this helps.

Andy,

I have a shop full of birch bark and work with it a lot.

If you do a search for "tine boxes" you will see some of my work and a tutorial on making boxes.

The thing to remember when working with birch bark is soak it in WARM water. If you soak it in hot or boiling water it will separate.

Use your imagination and you can make all kinds of containers. Make sure you share pictures with us.
