Benin Narnain winter walk

Finally managed to arrange to grab some hill time with a buddy if mine. Only had the day so headed out to bag Beinn Narnain just west if Loch Lomond. A great day was had, Pictures speak louder than words.

pre dawn start with a cracking view looking back over Arrochar.

full goretex was required before to long

excitement kicked in as we reached the snow line

trying to not look to smug as I took a mountain selfie

ascent was though a gulley to the summit

a wompa would feel at home here

ice formations off the rocks. Easy to guess direction of prevailing winds as we approached the summit

felt like a spring day on the way down

back at the car as the sun set.

We covered about 13km in 8 hours with lots of fun had practicing ice axe techniques.

My legs still feel a little stiff lol

Great trip mate. Nice to see someone getting out and about, and that looks a fine place for a day walk. No snow this way at all, even on the hills yet.

The snow isn't as low laying as you'd expect for this time of year. Mind you at work today we had mist, snow, rain, sunshine and high winds. Certainly a country that can claim to be varied!
