Before this summers Moot I asked for food ideas to take along, as we couldn't fish, take pheasants or rabbits, and I didn't fancy the shoreline :bluThinki .
I got some good answers and from that info, I managed to feed myself quite well (perhaps a little too well - I still can't see my toes).
With this in mind, I thought I'd put a little beginners menu together. Basically, enough to keep you going for a weekend so you get home without tree bark and insect legs between you teeth :yikes: . Here goes:
Fri Dinner
Boil in the Bag (BIB) Wayfarers chilli, 2 pita bread & Biccies fruit (MOD ration), brew from BIB water.
Sat Breakfast
2 Sausage & Bacon pita (2 big sausage & 4 bacon)
Rolled Oats (Quaker singles or MOD ration)
Brew
Sat Lunch
TUC Biscuits & tube of Primula
2 x Pepperami
1 x choc bar
Brew
Sat Dinner
BIB Lamb Curry (Wayfarer)
2 x pita
BIB Choc Pudding (MOD ration)
Brew
Sun Breakfast
BIB Sausage and Beans (MOD rations)
Rolled Oats (Quaker singles or MOD ration)
Brew
Sun Lunch
BIB Lacashire Hotpot (Wayfarer)
2 x pita
1 bar chocolate
Brew
Sun Dinner
I'll be at home.
A lot of BIB, but it's reasonably light and can be eaten hot or cold, I prefer hot. Wayfarer meals are a bit expensive at around £3.75 at Cotswolds, but the MOD BIB are the same size, with a higher colorific value, and cheap. I pick them up at my local car boot for £5, which gives you 2 main meals, a sweet and loads of other stuff. Much better than the tinned ones I used to get issued.
In addition to this lot, I'd have biccies brown & pate, a couple more pepperami, and maybe another bar of choccie, (just on case ) and a decent brew kit, with coffee, tea, choccie, milk power and stock cubes.
Well, it keeps me going.
Hope it's useful to somone.
