Today is the 500th Anniversary of the Battle of Flodden.
In which Scotland was given the most immense kicking by its southern neighbour, a kicking from which it never really recovered. It isn't all doom and gloom though, it might be argued that if we'd won the Scottish Enlightenment may never have happened, or at least not to the extent that it did.
Unlike Bannockburn or Prestonpans itt isn't a battle that is well remembered by most Scots but it should be.
