anything out there similar to the crusader mess tin but a bit smaller?

Have you thought about using a small stainless dog bowl? Sounds silly, but it'll do the job. Just use a multitool as a handle.

Cracking idea... The sink in my campervan is a recycled stainless dogbowl... They're tough and cheap

how small is small - i've only been able to find similar volume but round ones

thats quite interesting but again Aluminium is a turn off even if its just the lid
