On a bit of a budget - don't want to spend more than around one hundred quid. One or two man (I'm not a little guy so need a decent bit of room for myself and kit), anybody have any suggestions??
had a look at a Highlander Blackthorn XL but found mixed reviews, but that gives an idea of what i had in mind.

People seem to rate the OEX Phoxx 2. £79 at Go Outdoors.
I have one and would happily recommend it as a good-value option... but it's disappeared from the Go Outdoors web site! Whether temporarily or permanently, I have no idea.
The main thing people complain about is it's inner-first pitching, but it is possible to tie the inner and outer together and make it more or less pitch-as-one. Also the side vestibules are quite small. But for the money, hard to knock. If you can get one!

Might be worth looking at Vango as a brand. They do turn up cheap on eBay.

I’ve just been considering Banshee 300’s to replace current DofE ones but they do some compact single person tents.

Another recommendation for the Vango Banshee. Prices have risen considerably I’ve just noticed, I reckon it’s because of the D of E approval. I got mine for £99 at Blacks a couple of years ago. The 200 has door each side, vestibule for boots or stove, zipped bit at the end so you can stow more stuff under the fly.

The Banshee is low roofed though, a sleeping tent rather than a camping space. Looking at Vango, there’s a Tay at £79.99, 3 man. Looks ok, but it’s 4kg.

If I was going for a Banshee I’d go for the 300. But this is a bit over speced for a solo user. I just happened to be looking at them at the time I posted.
