Hi All
My Wife and I are going up to Cumbria on Thursday Friday Saturday (9 10 11Th). And our friends are meeting us up on Friday.
Taking with us my Nova Craft Pal (Canadian Canoe).
Has anyone got any camp sites that would be worth a try?
We are looking for somewhere that has basic toilets/showers and that the site is on the water so to speak, not much of a carry to get to the water.
I always feel that recommendations are better than trial and error.
I am also looking on the song of the paddle forum.
Thanks for your help and advice.
Cheers
Bill

There's a great national trust site at Wasdale Head and the lake is absolutely stunning. It's in the shadow of Scafell and is a beautiful place. Make sure you take plenty of 20p pieces for the showers though.

+1 on the Wasdale Head site for sheer beauty but Low Wray is more convenient to get to.Windermere might be a tad more interesting to take the boat on : Wastwater is fairly small and nothing in the way of islands and stuff. Coniston is a good choice too.
Don't forget to call in on your way up for some bread Bill.
Cheers , Simon
