With Valentines Day approaching, a newfound love for carving, time on my hands but no money, I have decided to make my missus a present.

Remembering a visit to Caernarfon a few years ago and her liking of ornamental “Welsh love spoons” we saw in a display, I reckon one of these could be just the thing!

http://www.celtica-wales.com/department/welsh-love-spoons/ (A few examples)

http://www.welsh-lovespoons.co.uk/ (A bit of history, traditional wood types etc)

(No affiliation with either company etc)

O.K! I’m being soppy:eek: but it ticks all the boxes and gives me an excuse for a bit of carving practice!

They look quite challenging given the interlocking nature of them and the fact I don’t have a spoon knife as yet. It looks like I might have dig the old chisels out.

I don’t suppose anyone has made one or fancy having a go at making one? I’m looking for tips as to any pitfalls when it comes to carving the interlocking bits.

If not, maybe I’ve just given you an excuse to carve!

Thanks…

And cue the innuendoes…..!
