Advice on 4 season sleeping bag

Hi, just wondering if anyone can recommend a quality 4 season bag. I have a preference for down despite its short coming if it gets wet. I currently use a north face green kazoo but find on very cold nights in a hammock I can get cold spots ...even with an underquilt! I know I'm probably a bit soft😄
Any advice would be appreciated

If price is not an issue have a look at the Carinthia bags - the best I've ever used but spendy!

If you are looking for a toasty warm and cheap option then the British Army Arctic Bag is excellent, however, as with most 'budget' options the weight and pack size isn't great. I've used mine very successfully and never been cold or experienced any 'cold spots'.

I would buy another us modular sleep system in a flash, summer bag, winter bag and a goretex bivi which can all be used on their own or combined in to a bag rated for -stupid

I rather like my snugpak SF 2 sleeping bag in the winter. Not the lightest or most compact bag out there, but very comfy and warm.

Thanks for all the replies folks..... I'm happy to spend to get quality... I consider it an investment as I'm out usually once a month..... Weight is not a major issue as I don't tend to do much hiking 2kg is probably fine.
I'll certainly check out some of the recommendations.
Does anyone rate man made over down from a thermal perspective . I've been tempted by mr mears bags with the centre zip, but look bulky and pricey...I'm sure the quality is good, but the bulk does put me off.

Great site... I might have been a bit quick to say price not an issue..... €1k+ for a bag!!, maybe if your going up Everest...... I'd say €500 my limit

Julia, just checked this one out and it could be the one, under 2kg, small pack size and rate to -15... Central zipp too.! Have you had it out in sub zero temps?

Hi Nagura, you mentioned hammock sleeping in particular - are the cold spots on you back, sides, front? I've gone the way of a long winter under-quilt by UKHammocks and a PHD bag I got for a steal on the 'bay. If I didn't have the PHD bag (for regular camping too), then I'd have gone for a top-quilt from Matt too.

Off topic, but funny. We had these bags issued to us on a four day exercise in Dartmouth. We were out on Dartmoor in truly horrific conditions so it made sense .

Couple of days after coming back though, and a few of my 'oppos' had started to report to sick bay. Then a few more...

Turns out they had all contracted crabs from the bags...

And the moral? Think carefully about buying second hand from the Booties, and boil wash the thing to oblivion if you do...

Yep, but only in the single digits. Was toasty warm. If you find it cold, you can always add the SF1 bag with the zip baffles, making a bag good down past -20°C. The combination of the two is very useful.
