Acorns

Whilst up the woods on Sunday we spent some time collecting a few nuts, ie Sweet Chestnuts, Hazelnuts and a few Acorns (Acorns make great exploding ammo from a sling shot), anyway, as we were foraging we found these examples

I think have to be some of the largest Acorns ive seen in a long long time.

The tree that produces ones that size round here has almost buttery inner nuts
If you open one up and slice a wee bit off and have a taste.
Those ones I don't need to leech, and Xylaria said last year that she too had found some trees with nuts like those too

If they aren't so mild, they'll still make really good coffee

I just cut one open and it has a double kernal, tasty though and not bitter at all, almost sweet id say.

Acorn pancakes with maple syrup.

Remember the trick with pancakes is only to flip them once!
