On one of my walks I was startled when a duck flew away from it's nest as I got close.
This is where I was walking around the end of June
I had no idea there was a nest here! It's at the base of this small black spruce (centre of pic )
A closer look doesn't help much
Ah, there it is, a mallard nest
And closer still
Unfortunately when I was back in the area about a week later, the nest was completely gone, no trace of it ever being there. I think something found a meal...
