I will say Im getting help, but Id like to know more about renting a bedsit

Go online and use rightmove. Failing that, and it normal sorts me right out, gumtree is good.

you should be able to find lots of places to see before you go down which takes al ot of the hassle out of the way. Also try for a 6 month contract at first so you don't have to be stuck with a rushed place. And it being Devon, you might be able to get some off season place with space for your books. ;-)
