IIRC the owners would let you camp in the 'closed' months if you asked nicely Its such a nice area, you have that campsite, Shell Island of course and some great coastline to explore plus the Snowdonia mountains

Without me googling it Rich, is it north Wales ?

Never been to Wales for a proper visit, been to the footy at Cardiff and did a PGL in the Brecons when I was a kid, oh and there was the wedding at Connahs Quay but I don't even know if that's over the border.

I see some great write ups about the mountains but having the Lakes and Dales on my doorstep I never think to drive down. I need to address that this year me thinks.

Snodonia is no more of a drive than Wasdale Head both about 2.5hours. Easier drive if anything.

Fantastic photos Dave! A woman who can cook over a fire like that, a dog named Frodo, and a walk from camp through the woods and across a bridge for a pint?! At the moment I'm more than a bit jealous!

There never seems to be midges, I think the water is too fast flowing

Looks like a lovely spot. That little bridge is cool, the place looks like it's stuck in time, it looks really peaceful.
