A damaged tent

Cheapo brand and not worth saving, -plus its incomplete

Going through my stuff I found an old tent I was given,-this was ages ago. I am trying to have a clear out, but most things I am confronted with are potentialy useful; why cant I find rubbish?

Im going to strip it for fittings' and the bag will come in handy, I am sure.

But what about the cloth?

Make some nylon bags from the fly, o
The groundsheet could be used as a footprint for another tent or just for sitting on when out if you cut off the bathtub sides and run a hem around it.

Definitely make stuff sacks and pouches from it, it’s great material for that.

WANTED Something to make a sail with

A junk sail for my tender...its 8 foot long so I need about 40sqft. Junk sails are made from pretty much anything; the Junk Rig Society generaly use polytarp but thats a bit stiff for my needs...remember it is self furling! I would find useful; The fly of an old big ridge tent old camping...

Now all I need is a machine that can do zigzag...

And the knowledge to use it....

Just do a small hem all round before you sew it up. I have a hand cranked singer, makes lovely bags, just have to use zig zag scissors and turn the edge under on the seam and run a line of stitching before you sew up the bag, or fold over twice and do the same, if you don't have zig zag scissors.

Where do you live?
I am possibly moving house and may need to downsize my table sewing machine. It’s a singer treadle with a motor fitted as well....

It has a zig zag foot but it’s not as smooth as a machine with built in zig zag but it works.
And oh I am in brighton, might have to wait until I next get anywhere near wiltshire, but I won’t Chuck it out of you see what I mean
