A couple of woodturning bits

Starting to get okayish pieces out now, not too rough finishes on them haha. First up is a bowl from an unknown burr, I think its sycamore? Very light colour



2nd up is a wee box, first time I tried one of these, it was pretty challenging getting the wood so thin and getting it to fit right, pretty happy with the outcome though. What to put in it?



The lid is a real tight fit

Looking good. If you want the lid to be easier to move, you could use a little beeswax, or just rub a candle on the bearing surface.

It's a needle box. My grandmother had one for sewing.
My grandfather had one in the boat shed for the huge needles he used for mending sails.
