I'm not really sure exactly what these lamps are. They're certainly old but they're not like the davvy lamp that I bought for my dad a few years ago. I'm not sure if these are a safety lamp?

Ych a fi, these will remain original. Don't think I will even polish them, just a clean. They are great little lamps my only gripe being the glass is not easily removed for cleaning the inside, you have to disassemble the lamp to do so.

Sports Direct had the Sabre 45 at £99 but unfortunately they don't appear to be listed on there any longer. I've used mine a fair bit on wild camps although my tastes have changed somewhat lately and I'm currently really enjoying the very vibrant colours of 80's/90's Karrimors.

The Karrimor SF Sabre 45 is excellent. Although worth trying one as some find them too short in the back. Otherwise an older Karrimor from the early 90's or earlier are excellent backpacks and can be picked up at bargain prices.

Yes I find it satisfying bringing back to use something that many might consider destined for the tip, especially when it's something iconic and high quality. There's some staines and some fading that can't be seen in this photo but it's more than usable. Just need to replace one side buckle...

Well it's been hand washed numerous times and now out on the line to dry. It doesn't look too bad.

It's been soaking all evening and I've hand washed it 3 times with 3 buckets of very dirty coloured water down the drain. Going to let it soak overnight.

I think this is beyond tech wash tbh but apart from being dirty, smelly and one broken side release buckle, it's not in bad condition. I will use this as my rough and ready backpack and keep my other one in good condition.

This isn't simply dirt from one outing, it's pretty filthy.

Thanks everyone. I think I might try washing by hand first and see how clean I can get it. I can always wash it in the machine again if I feel the need to.
